About Meg
Meg Crosby has been dancing tango for 25 years. She began her training at the (now-closed)Tango...Nada Más, a tango school in Chicago. It was there that she had the opportunity to study with many distinguished Milongueros, including Gavito; Nito and Elba; Leandro Palou and AndreaMissé; and Oswaldo Zotto. She danced with Zotto and remembers that his embrace felt like velvet. As she recalls, he had a light, gentle touch and yet, he had complete control. From him she discovered that a follower may not remember the steps a leader leads, but the memory of a good embrace is never forgotten. In 2000 she joined the newly established Milwaukee Tango, and she has been an active member of the community ever since. For many years she took classes from Marek Szotkowski and Nina Tatarowicz. Currently, she studies with Jacques and MarÃa, Jesica Arfenoni, and Maxi Cristiani, whenever he is in Chicago. She supplements her tango training with weightlifting, a vigorous Iyengar yoga practice, and multiple, daily walks with Edo, her smooth fox terrier. Meg holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages (Spanish and Portuguese) from the University of New Mexico. For 35 years she taught Spanish language, and Latin American literature and culture courses at several colleges and universities. She is an avid traveler and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She especially likes Argentina and France.
