Workshop with Antonio Testolin & Jessica Penning

MTS is very pleased to have Antonio Testolin of Tango Basico joined by his long-time dance partner Jessica Penning share their extensive tango knowledge and artistry in this workshop.

Workshop is for both leads and followers.

Jessica Penning has been teaching tango with Antonio and Tango Basico for many years, but also offers private lessons for individuals (both lead and follow roles) or couples at the beginner and intermediate level.

From Antonio:

"I have been teaching and dancing tango for years. When I started to take tango seriously, I lived in Buenos Aires two months at a time, multiple times, and studied intensively with Damian Essel, Pablo Villarraza and Dana Frigoli at DNI Tango Company, one of the most innovative modern tango schools in BA, and Bruno Tombari. In addition, I took many classes with Horacio Godoy. Recently I took a 3-day workshop with Mariano “Chicho” Frumboli and Juana Sepulveda. I have the great fortune to have maintained lifelong friendships with two amazing tango teachers, “Chucky” Romano (teaching in Poland) and Maximiliano Colussi (teaching in Paris), with whom I have taught, performed, exchanged and still in touch with today.  I also arranged workshops here in Madison with them."

Taught Workshops

Antonio has organized many workshops in the surrounding area, including with “Chucky” Romano and Maximiliano Colussi, Queer Tango with Astrid Wieske in Tulum Mexico and Pisa Italy

Performance

Antonio says: "I love to share Argentine Tango with the Madison community. Jessica Penning and I have been performing for more than 10 years during the Willy Street Fair, as well as other at venues including UW Madison."

Teaching

Antonio says: "I currently teach on Monday evenings. The class is geared to students who have tango experience and can bring a dance partner to train with. The focus of my class is deep exploration of tango concepts like connection, embrace, dissociation, improvisation, and musicality, beyond the basic patterns of particular techniques. "

Salon, Nuevo, and Milonguero.  Antonio integrates each style depending on the music.
